DS7 Update

Luckily at my apartment we have garages, because a work space is essential to a proper build as well as the correct tools.

Workshop basic essentials:

• Work Benches
• Bench Vise
• Air Compressor
• Decent Lighting
• Storage/Shelving

      Just to name a few!

DS7 Update

NOS, an acronym for NEW OLD STOCK, these are brand new factory parts that have been sitting in a warehouse or shop for the past 40 some odd years. This is the first encounter with this term.

DS7 Update

When I purchased the bike he had it running roughly on one cylinder. I think that there was bad compression in the right cylinder, but I was not worried about the bike running, considering I am doing a complete rebuild. While researching the bike, I found that Yamaha only made this model for two years: 1971 & 1972 so there are limited parts and the ones that are available are expensive!

Here are some pictures of the 1972 Yamaha DS7 250cc and the condition I received it in. I am planning on rebuilding it from the ground up, into a cafe racer. I initially paid $700.00 for the bike.
